Lie Lie Lie

Serj Tankian ist in erster Linie als Sänger von "System of a Down" bekannt. Mit "Elect The Dead" erschien jetzt sein erstes Soloalbum das neben solch anmutig-lyrischen Titeln wie "Beethoven's Cunt" auch das hier vorgestellte "Lie Lie Lie" enthält.

Das Video ist eine Art Collagen-Spiel und wurde von Martha Colburn gedreht. Leider habe ich nicht herausbekommen, welcher weibliche Counterpart dort neben Serj singt und auch symbolisch im Video auftritt. Serj selbst hat über den Song gesagt: "Then I realized the lyrics were way too serious for such a silly song. So I ripped them up, threw them on the floor and went in and did it all on the fly, just having fun and creating it all again from scratch. In the end the song became this really crazy, humorous drama" (Interview mit soadfans.com).

Natürlich klingt der Song sehr nach "System of a Down", aber das ist vielleicht nicht schlecht so und kann auch nicht wirklich überraschen. Das fortlaufende "la la la la la" mag auf Dauer nerven, insgesamt ist der Song jedoch stimmig und das Video gelungen.
